๐A Balanced Rise: I firmly believe that “The Rise of Women doesnโt mean the Fall of Men.” True equality is not a zero-sum game; it is about creating a society where everyone has the space to thrive.
๐Being “Fit for Purpose” Success requires more than just a title; it requires being Fit for Purpose. Whether in the boardroom or the community, we must continuously refine our skills, our character, and our vision to meet the weight of the assignments we carry.
๐One Woman, One Hectare I addressed the critical findings of the CGE research report on Barriers to Womenโs Access to Communal Land. Our recommendation is clear: the “One Woman, One Hectare” initiative is essential for economic decolonization, ensuring rural women move from subsistence to sustainable commercial success. The United Nations Development Programme – UNDP at the CSW declared 2026: The International Year of the Woman Farmer!
๐Institutionalizing Excellence through Tharika M Group Through Tharika M Group, we are actively closing the compliance gap. We have assisted over 1,400 entrepreneurs in developing professional Business Plans and Company Profiles, ensuring they are not just “dreaming” of business, but are ready for management, compliance, and global opportunities.

Today, I had the honor of addressing the Integrated Oversight Workshop convened by the Mpumalanga Provincial Speaker, Hon. N. Makhosazane Masilela and Deputy Speaker, Hon. Sam Masango from the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature.
Bringing together key stakeholders, the mission for the day was clear: to strengthen legislative oversight and ensure a #MpumalangaProvinceThatWorksForAll.
As the Commissioner for the Commission for Gender Equality (CGE), I shared a firm message on behalf of the constitutional mandate we carry:
๐ Winning Back Public Trust: We must “declutter” our institutions. We cannot let the “bad bunch” overshadow the good. Service delivery is the only way to restore the people’s faith in governance. ๐ The Human Cost of Delayed Policy: The Local Government White Paper has been under review since 1998. That is 28 years. Imagine the life of a 28-year-old today in Mpumalanga. Are they employed? Are they empowered? Or have our slow systems set them up for failure? We must wake up to the fact that delayed policy is a stolen future. This white paper will address over 25 years of systemic failures, including poor service delivery, financial mismanagement, and crumbling infrastructure. ๐ Breaking the Silos: We are all guardians of the people. Whether it is the Legislature or Chapter 9 and 10 institutions, our oversight should not be seen as a hurdle, but as a collective shield for our citizens. ๐ Collective Accountability: As the current Chair of the FISD (Forum for Institutions Supporting Democracy), the CGE is advocating for deeper, collective work with the Legislature. We need meaningful accountability sessions that result in real-world impact. ๐ Gender is Everywhere: Every societal issueโfrom water to infrastructureโhas a gender element. The CGE can only be fully effective when our Municipalities stop failing the people. When service delivery fails, women and children bear the heaviest burden. ๐ A Balanced Society: We must continue to remind our communities: The Rise of Women does not mean the Fall of Men. True equality strengthens the entire fabric of our province.

Commissioner HRH Princess Eurika Mogane was a guest at the 2026 State of the Province Address (SOPA), and was closely monitoring the provincial governmentโs commitments to the women and children of Mpumalanga. As a dedicated advocate for gender equality and a Commissioner for the Commission for Gender Equality, Her Royal Highness paid particular attention to the Premierโs Honrable Mandla Ndlovu MP, paving a roadmap for tackling Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) and promoting gender equality and empowerment.

Key Highlights for Gender Equality & GBVF: * Gender Equality as a Moral Mandate: The Premier reaffirmed that gender equality is not a symbolic gesture but a human right and a moral obligation essential to improving lives across our province. * A United Stand Against GBVF: With GBVF declared a national disaster, the Commissioner noted the province’s proactive steps, including providing psychosocial support to over 2,000 victims in just nine months. * Expanding the Safety Net: Mpumalanga has surpassed national requirements by establishing more than two victim shelters per district, ensuring that those fleeing violence have a secure place to turn. * The GBVF Brigade Project: A significant highlight was the announcement of the GBVF Brigade project, which will deploy 554 youth across 90 policing precincts to lead community assessments and awareness programs. * Economic Inclusion: While acknowledging that female unemployment remains high, the Commissioner welcomed the focus on agricultural initiatives and real estate training programs specifically targeting women to ensure financial independence. * Maternal Health Progress: The Commissioner was encouraged by the efforts to intensify awareness campaigns to reduce maternal mortality and the successful reduction of neonatal mortality rates in provincial facilities.

I emphasised that our traditional leadership is constitutionally enshrined (Chapter 12, SA Constitution) and essential for stability and community development.
As Princess Royal of the Mogane Royal Family and Mogane Tribal Authority and Secretary General of the SA Royal Princess Network, I highlighted: 1. Our role as custodians of our heritage and land. 2. The drive for economic empowerment within our communities. 3. The push for modern, inclusive traditional governance.
It’s time to recognise the foundational role our Royal Houses play in our nation’s fabric.
I was honored to attend the World Food Forum Session on Digital Agriculture in Africa. As we witness the devastating impact of the recent floods in Mpumalanga, it is clearer than ever that we must embrace technology to protect our food security.
1. Early Warning Systems: Real-time data can help farmers predict extreme weather events, allowing them to protect livestock and crops before disaster strikes. 2. Precision Recovery: Using satellite imagery and drones, we can accurately assess flood damage to ensure aid and resources reach the hardest-hit areas quickly. 3. Climate Resilience: Digital tools empower our small-scale farmers with the knowledge to adopt flood-resistant techniques and smarter water management.
Digital Agriculture is not just about innovation; it is about survival. By using real-time data and early-warning systems, we can better protect our crops and livestock from the unpredictable climate challenges we face today.
My commitment remains with our farmers. We are not just rebuilding; we are building a smarter, more resilient future for Mpumalanga. ๐๐ฑ
The Commission for Gender Equality Mpumalanga Office, led by Commissioner HRH Princess Eurika Mogane held a stakeholder engagement at Thulamahashe, on harmful cutural and religious practices, teenage pregnancy and the sexual exploitation of young women in the Bushbuckridge Local Municipality.
The objective of the engagement was to conduct a Research Based Engagement, aimed at keeping all stakeholders accountable as per the powers of the CGE. The session was attended by the Speaker of the Mpumalanga Legislature, Honourable Makhosazane Masilela and the Executive Mayor of Bushbuckridge Local Municipality, Cllr L.M. Moroane and members of civil society organizations.
Commisioner HRH Eurika Mogane set the tone for the day and urged everyone to work together in addressing the challenges faced by our communities. She decried the abuse of teenage girls especially learners and called on stakeholders to follow Legislation with regards to the Duty to Report. “We as a Chapter 9 Institution keep all stakeholders to account, without any fear or favour. We have key stakeholders who are dropping the ball and this engagement is meant to address those cases, address the loopholes and find ways of establishing a collective call to action for those who fail to follow their respective roles in dealing with Teenage Pregnancy, Sexual Exploitation and more.”
The Honourable Speaker gave a message of support welcoming the Research Initiative. The Speaker reaffirmed the commitment of the Legislature in addressing issues faced by teenage girls in the province. She further stated that legislation alone is not enough to address the challenges but we need a societal change to create a conducive enviroment for teenage girls.
The Executive Mayor presented on harmful practices in the Bushbuckridge area, and the Department of Education gave a presentation on teenage pregnancy statistics in the province, Ehlanzeni District and Bushbuckridge Municipality respectively, which showed a decrease in the past 3 years yet still alarmingly high. Sonke Gender Justice presented on the prevalence of sexual exploitation of young women in the Bushbuckridge area and the factors contributing to such illegal acts.
The Honourable Speaker expressed the desire to conclude a Memorandum of Understanding with the CGE which will enable both institutions to strengthen each other’s oversight monitoring roles.
